Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home
26.Aug.10
Hi Everyone,
This is a special salute to all Vietnam Veterans. Here is the information that I have so far for the event on Ft. Knox on Thursday, 26, August, 2010.
We will all meet at the Redmar Plaza just outside of Wilson Rd. gate at 08:30am.
I talked with the Garrison COMMAND SERGENT MAJOR and he informed me that he wants more motorcycles to enter Ft. Knox on that day than ever before. He also informed me that all restrictions for motorcycles will be lifted for that day only, and if your car is not registered on Ft. Knox you will not have to get a one day pass. Just inform the gate guards that you are here for the Vietnam Veterans Salute.
From the Redmar Plaza we will enter Ft. Knox thru Wilson Rd. gate escorting, the buses that will be transporting the majority of the Vietnam Veterans. Rolling Thunder and Patriot Guards will be leading the way. The Garrison Commander specifically requested Rolling Thunder and Patriot Guards be informed and to pass the word.
They will have Vietnam era vehicles on display as well as the most modern combat vehicles. There will be a VIP seating area for the Vietnam Veterans. The entire Ft. Knox post units etc., will be participating. There are still some questions that have not been answered yet, will there be food etc. there. We will be able to set up a booth and sell our chapter products. The salute starts at 9:00am and ends at 1:00 pm. The CSM assured me this will be an event to remember, and to please invite and encourage all Vietnam Veterans to attend. As soon as the flyer is produced I will send it to every member, including many other Veterans organizations. I have also been informed that if you are a government worker, working on Ft. Knox this will be your place of duty. This entire event will take place on the Parade field in front of the Headquarters building.
If you know of any other Veterans Organizations please forward this email to them. I will be sending this out to as many Veterans Organizations as I can.
Let's make this event bigger than the Garrison Commander is hoping for.
